Ryan Sweatt, age 36, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, operating to endanger, and a marked lanes violation after the alleged incident overnight Thursday, April 4, the Middlesex District Attorney said. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday morning.

Investigators say Sweatt got into a heated argument with a car on Route 85 Thursday night. When the driver and passenger of the other vehicle got out, Sweatt made a quick U-turn with his Honda Civic and crashed into the 26-year-old woman as she stood in the roadway, police said.

Paramedics rushed the woman to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her name was not released.

Police are still investigating the alleged incident.
